Can the power frequency screw machine be converted into frequency?
In theory, the power frequency screw machine can convert frequency, but in fact, after installing the inverter, it cannot achieve the expected energy-saving effect, which may bring about a series of problems.
The analysis is as follows:
- Energy-saving effect is limited:
- Even if the inverter is installed in the power frequency screw machine, the adjustment range is limited, usually only reaching 25~50Hz, which basically cannot achieve obvious energy-saving effect. The reason why frequency converter screw machines can save energy is that it can adjust the current and speed according to production conditions to match the actual gas volume requirements. After the inverter is installed in the power frequency screw machine, this flexible adjustment cannot be achieved due to the design limitations of the motor and compressor itself.
- May damage the equipment:
- The motor speed of the power frequency screw machine is constant, and the heat dissipation design is also based on this feature. After the frequency converter is installed, the motor speed decreases, which may cause a huge loss of heat dissipation effect, which will burn the motor.
- The fuel injection volume of the main engine of the power frequency screw machine is usually fixed and will not automatically decrease due to the reduction in rotational speed. Continuous injection of full oil volume may cause serious emulsification when the speed decreases, resulting in water content in the system, damage to the bearings and mainframe, greatly shortening the service life of the equipment components and the entire machine.
- Unstable operation:
- After the inverter is installed in the inverter, the control system of the inverter and the pressure signal sensor of the original air compressor may not achieve good synchronous matching, resulting in a series of phenomena such as slow signal transmission during operation and disordered frequency, increasing the equipment failure rate.
- Scope of application is limited:
- The frequency inverter of the power frequency screw machine is only suitable for single screw compressor transformation, not for dual-stage compressors. Because a double-stage compressor uses a small and small gear to drive the two hosts to overload the operation, the frequency conversion modification is more likely to cause the motor fever phenomenon, and it will greatly reduce the transmission efficiency.
Summary: Although in theory, the power frequency screw machine can be converted by installing a frequency inverter, in fact, this is not feasible. It cannot bring the expected energy-saving effect, but may damage the equipment and increase the failure rate. Therefore, if the laboratory or production environment has high requirements for the energy saving and stability of the air compressor, it is recommended to directly choose a frequency converter screw machine instead of inverting the power frequency screw machine.
